The Du Shi Hui Tong written by Zhou Dian in the Ming Dynasty is an annotated version of Du Fu’s poems, which records the annotations of various schools and has some innovations.Zhou Dian studied Du Fu’s poems deeply. In the 41st year of Jiajing(1562),he composed Du Shi Hui Tong, which has only one version in existence.Zhou Dian was born in a Confucian family. His grandfather wrote Tang Poetry Anthology, and his ancestors included Zhou Bo,Zhou Dunyi,Zhou Xuan and others. The strong family education atmosphere and the ancestors’ behavior and study have deeply influenced Zhou Dian, making Zhou Dian take Neo-Confucianism as the key, loyalty and love as the foundation, and attention to Du as his responsibility. The character of Zhou Dian commenting Du Fu is based on Classic of Poetry. In Du Shi Hui Tong,Zhou Dian clearly put forward his poetic concept based on The Book of Songs, and commented on Du Fu’s poems with Bi and Xing, resentment and loyal, and he was deeply influenced by Confucianism’s interpretation of Poems.Discussing Du Fu’s Poems with Bi and Xing,Zhou Dian highlighted the characteristics of Du Poetry’s self-figuration and the metaphor of a gentleman and a villain. The ills of conflation.Talking about Du Fu’s poems with grievances,Zhou Dian captured the injustice in Du Fu’s poems, not only the self-inflicted works of feeling that he was underappreciated by his talents, but also the sarcasm and sarcasm of exposing the faults of those in power.Zhou Dian also attached great importance to the loyalty and patriotism of the emperor in Du Fu’s poems, and affirmed the loyalty and love thought of never forgetting the emperor and thinking of the motherland in Du Fu’s poems. As one of the annotations of Du Fu’s poems in the Ming Dynasty,Du Shi Hui Tong has preserved a large number of old annotations, and has also been valued by many commentators. Many later annotated editions quoted Du Shi Hui Tong in large numbers, and its achievements and influence deserve attention. However, there are also some shortcomings in Du Shi Hui Tong. For example, when citing predecessors, the source is often not marked, and self-notes are confused with other notes;Zhou Dian was deeply influenced by the poetic concept guided by Confucianism in the Han and Song Dynasties and imprisoned by the idea of loyalty to the monarch.Failure to break away from the far-fetched tradition since the Song Dynasty sometimes misinterprets the original meaning of Du Fu’s poems;Zhou Dian sometimes uses other people’s viewpoints without examination and identification, which is uncritical.
