| Abstract expressionism was born in the transformation of the times. At that time, the World War Ⅱ caused great harm to mankind. The widespread panic and anxiety in society promoted its rapid development. Its success made New York the center of western modern art.As a representative figure of abstract expressionism,De Kooning’s painting art truly reflects the living conditions of Americans at that time,De Kooning was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and studied at the Rotterdam Institute of art and technology. In his early days, due to the influence of European traditional academies, his painting style always hovered between concrete and abstract. When he immigrated to the United States at the age of 22,his painting was influenced by surrealism, cubism and expressionism, and formed his own artistic style. After World War Ⅱ,existential philosophy and Freud’s unconscious theory prevailed in the United States, prompting De Kooning to paint through his cognition of individual social life and his own subconsciousness, express his will through his brush, and show his inner world on the screen without any disguise. The characters in the picture and the background blend with each other, and the main characters become secondary expressions. At the same time,it also reflects De Kooning’s emphasis on the overall picture content. The painting retains the illusion of art, making it difficult to clearly distinguish what he is painting. To be exact, his picture seems to be full of infinite power forever. In his later years,De Kooning’s paintings became completely abstract. His pursuit of eternal life prompted him to constantly observe nature and find its subtle changes, his creation is to describe his inner world on the basis of understanding life,so as to express the most real self.By reviewing De Kooning’s art history, this paper first discusses the evolution of his painting, and analyzes and expounds the image and spatial arrangement of his art works and the color characteristics of his pictures from multiple angles. Then, starting from the spiritual connotation of De Kooning’s painting,it mainly uses psych oanalysis to study the free existence and subconscious expression in art,and to explore the feelings reflected in his works and the existence of lonely individuals,As well as the artist’s desire to vent and the process of automatic painting under the subconscious effect. Finally,it summarizes the influence of De Kooning on the author’s creation, and discusses it from the perspective of observing life and endowing painting emotion with his own creation. |
