| English writing,as one of the four language skills, plays a significant role on improving students integrated language abilities. It also shows how students understand and apply text structure, vocabulary and grammar.Writing is a complicated and repeated process, which consists of thinking—drafting—revising—rethinking. Moreover, effective feedback paves a crucial way for students to revise their original writings. But the current feedback model for junior high school students fails to improve their writing abilities in the short run,so it is a must to do some optimization. The thesis did research on the application for integrating teacher’s feedback and Automated Writing Evaluation(AWE),and try to answer the following three questions:(1)Can the integration between teacher’s feedback and AWE develop students’ English writing ability?(2)What achievements will be produced from the integration of teacher’s feedback and AWE?(3)How can teachers’ feedback and AWE be integrated effectively in English writing teaching to improve students’ English writing ability?Taking 50 junior high school students in Class Eight,Grade Two of a junior high school as participants, the research lasted for two rounds, four months in total, including four basic steps: planning, implementation, observing and reflection.Based on the theories of the Constructivism and Process Approach, this thesis applied the integration of teacher’s feedback and AWE in English writing teaching.Meanwhile, the author attempts to conduct a descriptive analysis for qualitative data, while quantitative data will be analyzed by Excel and Spss25.0.Through the analysis of the data, this study draws the following conclusions:Firstly, the integration between teachers’ feedback and AWE can effectively improve students’ English writing ability.Secondly, integrating teachers’ feedback and AWE can not only improve students English writing performance, but also has a significant impact on writing content, text, gramma and vocabulary, norms. At last,an effective integration between teachers’ feedback and AWE differs from one to another, because it depends on student’s learning level and writing stage.AWE is mainly used to give feedback for the first draft of students.Teachers’ written feedback and oral feedback should be given for the second draft of students.Written feedback by which errors are located by teachers but corrected by students should be given for higher-level students. As for medium-level students, the errors of vocabulary and grammar should be located by teachers and corrected by students, the rest of errors should adopt oral feedback to make the errors clear. For lower-level students, oral feedback for students’ second draft is more effective. If there remain problems in the third draft, oral feedback should be adopted alone to strengthen students’ memory. |
