| Under the background of the New College Entrance Examination,English teaching in senior high schools has gradually changed,and more attention is paid to the mastery of students’ own English vocabulary.For many years,many researchers have explored and found that vocabulary acquisition is an important and fundamental part of language learning.For many English learners,mastering certain vocabulary learning strategies can help them learn and memorize vocabulary to a certain extent.Based on the importance of strategies in vocabulary learning,this study focuses on the overall use of English vocabulary learning strategies by senior high school students,and further explores the correlation between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary breadth.This study specifically answers the following three questions:(1)What is the overall use of English vocabulary learning strategies by senior high school students?(2)What is the English vocabulary breadth of senior high school students?(3)What is the correlation between vocabulary learning strategies used by high school students and vocabulary breadth? The research objects are 110 students from Grade One of Tongliao No.1 Senior High School.The research is conducted by issuing survey difference questionnaire,vocabulary breadth level test paper,interview and SPSS19.0 software analysis.The results show that :(1)Senior high school students use all vocabulary learning strategies in the process of vocabulary learning.Cognitive strategies are the most frequently used vocabulary learning strategies,while social affective strategies are the least frequently used vocabulary learning strategies.(2)The overall level of vocabulary breadth is divided into high group and low group.There are significant differences between high group and low group in the use of learning strategies in cognitive strategy,metacognitive strategy and asset management strategy.(3)Metacognitive strategies,cognitive strategies and resource management strategies have a significant positive linear relationship between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary breadth knowledge.However,there is a low correlation between social affective strategies and vocabulary breadth.Finally,based on the research results,this paper puts forward some suggestions on how to strengthen the vocabulary breadth of high school students and train their vocabulary learning strategies.From the perspective of teachers,teachers should strengthen the awareness of cultivating students’ vocabulary learning strategies;According to the characteristics of students’ vocabulary learning,teaching is carried out effectively in a variety of ways.From the perspective of students,students can use vocabulary learning strategies flexibly in various ways and channels. |
