Others' Views, My Own Views, And Joint Views: A Study On The Narrative Strategies Of Documentaries On Chinese Ethnic Minoritie

Documentaries of Chinese ethnic minorities first appeared at the beginning of the 20 th century,which was filmed by foreign explorers.With the evolution of technology and the renewal of ideas,documentaries of Chinese ethnic minorities has been developing since the end of the 20 th century.More and more filmmakers who have different cultural identities record colorful and diverse images of ethnic minorities.Documentaries can be filmed from the perspectives of "other-view" "self-view" or "combined view" and that leads to different narrative strategies.In this paper,the method of case analysis,the method of comparative research and the method of text research are employed.Firstly,this paper elaborates the history of the Chinese ethnic minorities documentaries from different narrative perspective.Secondly,it compares three different narrative perspectives — "other views","self-views" and "combined views".Finally,it analyzes the problems in the narrative of Chinese ethnic minorities documentaries and proposes some effective strategies.The innovations of this paper are in the following aspects: Firstly,this paper takes the narrative perspective as the starting point,from the three different perspectives of "other views","self-views" and "combined views",to study Chinese ethnic minorities documentaries.The paper applies the theory of narratology,film and television anthropology,and cross-cultural communication.Secondly,the study of the narrative strategy of Chinese ethnic minorities documentaries in this paper is based on the different cultural identities of the filmmakers.In the process of analyzing,this paper mainly focuses on "who is telling","what is told",and "how to tell".Finally,this paper is not about a research of metaphysics but a research offers guidance for filmmaking.
