| Childhood leukemia is a malignant proliferative disease of the hematopoietic system that poses a serious threat to the life and health of children and makes people fearful of the word "leukemia".This study was divided into two phases,Study 1 and Study 2,with the aim of providing a reference for psychological interventions for parents of children with leukemia.Study 1 first investigated the current situation of caregiving stress, mindfulness level and coping style of parents of children with leukemia, and established a structural equation modeling of the relationship between the three, and explored the relationship between the three. The effect of MBSR on reducing caregiving stress and increasing positive coping styles in parents of children with leukemia was investigated. In Study 1,a random sampling method was applied to select 242 parents of hospitalized children with leukemia who met the inclusion criteria in a tertiary level A hospital pediatric hematology-oncology center in Qingdao during January2021-August 2021 as study subjects, and the Demographic Data Questionnaire, the Stress of Caregiving Scale, the Positive Attention Awareness Scale and the Coping Style Scale for Parents were used as study instruments to The questionnaire survey was conducted, and 221 valid questionnaires were finally returned, with an effective rate of91.32%.The questionnaire survey revealed that parents of children with leukemia were under heavy caregiving pressure, their positive thoughts were at an intermediate level, and they were able to cope with the disease in a more positive way.The Pearson product-difference correlation method was used to analyze the caregiving stress, the level of mindfulness and coping style of parents of children with leukemia, and it was found that there was a significant correlation between them.A structural equation modeling of the relationship between parental caregiving stress, the level of mindfulness, and coping style was developed. The results found that the level of mindfulness of parents of children with leukemia significantly negatively predicted their caregiving stress and significantly positively predicted their coping style, the level of coping style of parents of children with leukemia significantly negatively predicted their caregiving stress, and the indirect effect of the level of mindfulness of parents of children with leukemia → coping style → caregiving stress was significant.Study 2 explored the effects of mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy on caregiving stress, the level of mindfulness and coping style intervention for parents of children with leukemia on the basis of Study 1.Sixty parents of leukemia children with caregiving stress scores ≥7 were selected from the general survey sample and randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental and control groups were given routine care, and the experimental group added an 8-week mingdfulness-based stress reduction course to the routine care.Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 after 8 weeks of intervention. Before the intervention, there were no significant differences between the experimental and control groups in general information, caregiving stress level, the level of mindfulness and parental coping style level;after the intervention, the total score of parental caregiving stress in the experimental group was significantly lower than that before the intervention;the level of mindfulness in the experimental group was significantly higher than that before the intervention;the total score of parental coping style in the experimental group was significantly higher than that before the intervention. In the control group, there were no significant differences in parental caregiving stress, the level of mindfulness and coping style after the intervention. The results of this study, combined with the theory of stress and coping styles, led to the following conclusions.(1)Parents of children with leukemia have very high levels of caregiving stress, moderate levels of mindfulness, and high levels of positive parental coping.(2)Parents of children with leukemia aged ≤30 years old have higher caregiving stress, the higher the education level, the higher the caregiving stress, the higher the caregiving stress for families with only one child, and the higher the caregiving stress for those whose jobs have not changed than those whose jobs have changed,so society needs to pay more attention to these people.(3)Parental coping style mediates the relationship between their level of mindfulness and caregiving stress among parents of children with leukemia, and increasing the the level of mindfulness of parents of children with leukemia can help reduce the caregiving stress of parents of children with leukemia.(4)Mindfulness-based stress reduction can increase the level of mindfulness and positive coping of parents of children with leukemia and help reduce the caregiving stress of parents of children with leukemia. |
