Melancholy Body Image

Tracey Emin is a famous controversial contemporary artist in Britain,and she also is one of the important members of YBA(British Young Artists),which emerged in the early 1990 s.Throughout Tracey Emin’s artistic works,there is an eternal artistic theme: the body.Whether explicit or implicit,Emin’s body exists as an organic expression of her own life reality.In all of her artistic works,all of her art refers to herself.Starting from the psychological characteristics of artistic creation,the melancholic emotions brought about by life and artistic experiences have brought specific artistic experiences,ideas,and expressions to Tracey Emin’s artistic creation.From the perspective of melancholy,this article analyzes the development,transformation,and artistic value of body images in Tracey Emin’s artistic creation.From the perspective of artistic psychology,it briefly analyzes the relationship between the characteristics of melancholy and the growing experience of artists.Tracey Emin’s melancholy comes from her painful experience in her childhood,as well as the influence of Edvard Munch and Egon Schiller’s art.it briefly describes the development of body image elements in Western art.This paper expounds the analysis of artistic language on body image,and briefly describes the evolution of the meaning of body image in western art.Starting from three aspects of maternal thought in family affection,intimate relationship in love,and trial from the perspective of feminism,how Emin’s melancholy mood promotes artistic creation through body image;Finally,it mainly expounds how Emin using her own body as a medium,makes self breakthroughs through diversified artistic language.
