The Innovation And Solidification Of Zhejiang Seal Engraving Formation

By combing and analyzing copious amounts of seal engravings of the Zhejiang school handed down to the world in terms of their style,printing surface,the marginal text content,letters handed down by Zhejiang seal carvers,communication research and other materials,so as to explore the mutual solidarity of Zhejiang school seal engravers and their overall aesthetic consciousness,and to interpret the formation of the concept of "Zhejiang school seal engraving".Then,after sorting out,extracting and summarizing the surviving seals of Zhejiang School seal engravers,the seal engravings are divided into three parts:characters,the side inscriptions,and the printing surface.Through image analysis,and from the perspective of how Zhejiang seal engraving was formed,the paper explores the contributions of the “Xiling Eight masters” led by Ding to seal engraving innovation,and from the view of the historical development of Zhejiang school seal engraving to unfold it in detail from the top down..Finally,the history of seal engraving has undergone tremendous changes with the passage of time.and was influenced by the concept of “seal engraving was originated in calligraphy” and “expanding the scope of materials used for seal engraving creation”in the middle and late Qing Dynasty.This paper compares the form composition of seal engraving works of Zhejiang School with those of Deng Shiru and Zhao Zhiqian,and explores the reasons for the gradual decline of seal engraving under the strong impact of the historical wave of seal engraving at length.The "Anhui School" led by Deng Shiru and the "Zhejiang School" belong to the same period,yet Deng Shiru is nearly 50 years later than Ding Jing.Why the "Anhui School",as a rising star,was able to compete with the "Zhejiang School" as soon as it emerged? Thus it can be seen that the influence of the "Zhejiang School" has gradually declined.Zhao Zhiqian,as a representative figure turning from "Zhejiang School" into "Anhui School",has absorbed the the advantages from both sides,and Zhao’s seal engraving works have a greater influence on the later generations,so it is more convincing to analyze the reasons for the decline of "Zhejiang school seal engraving" through Deng and Zhao’s seal engraving works.
