| In recent years,as mass media, new mainstream films and TV series have attracted more and more attention. This attention mainly comes from two aspects:new mainstream films and TV series have completed the mission of carrying the mainstream ideology and shaping the national image;new mainstream films and TV series have excellent market performance and broad audience. In other words, new mainstream films and TV series with both “ideology” and “entertainment” are mature cultural representations and popular cultural products. This paper takes new mainstream films and TV series as research object. And the goal of this research is to discuss how new mainstream films and TV series with the above two characteristics have produced collective memory. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter discusses the representation of historical reality in new mainstream films and TV series.Through the narration, new mainstream films and TV series bridge the split between history and memory, and place individual memory in the structure of revolutionary history,so that history and memory are combined in the narrative process.Chapter two discusses the collective memory production of new mainstream films and TV series. The process of collective memory production is also the process of identification.By systematically imagining history, new mainstream films and TV series produce collective memory of the past. When audiences share these memories while watching films and TV series, they identify with the nation.Chapter three discusses the remediation of collective memory. The medium of memory not only stores and transmits collective memory but may also become the object of memory.During the process of memorizing “memory”,new mainstream films and TV series reproduce the collective memory using remediation, thus finding a new medium for the continuation of the memory community.Chapter four regards new mainstream films and TV series as cultural products and discusses their communication effects.Representing historical reality is just the first step of producing collective memory, and then it needs the construction of collectivity.Through the process of mass communication, new mainstream films and TV series not only shape the collective impression of the past but also provide the public with a common way to recall the present in the future. |
