The spatial system of rural production space is the spatial carrier for the revitalization of rural industries. The relationship and strength of each element within the system directly affects whether the system can operate in a stable and orderly manner, and a stable and orderly system is the basic guarantee for the revitalization of industries.Rural population and production space are the core elements of rural production space system, and the relationship between them is complicated.Clarifying the mismatch characteristics between them and their distribution pattern under multi-dimensional gradient can enrich the empirical research on rural production space, and is also of great significance to the study of rural human-land relationship. In view of this, this paper takes 422 administrative villages in Qin’an County,Longzhong Loess Hilly Region,as the evaluation unit, combines geographic concentration index, interaction index and spatial mismatch index, analyzes the spatial distribution characteristics of rural population and production space from a micro perspective, reveals the mismatch characteristics of rural populationproduction space relationship and its multi-dimensional gradient distribution law,the research results show that.(1)The distribution of population and production space in rural areas of Qin’an County varies significantly and unevenly, and the distribution of rural population shows the characteristics of “large loose and small compact”,with urban areas as the center and population density showing a more significant “core-edge-periphery”structure.The production space in the countryside is mainly arable land and orchards, and the development of forestry and fruit industry has a good momentum, mainly distributed in the east of the urban area, accounting for about 69% of the total area of the countryside, and the highest percentage of the village area reaches87%,with a small production space per capita, and the spatial distribution of the production space per capita varies significantly, showing a spatial distribution pattern of low in the middle and high around. In addition, the mismatch characteristics of population and production space in Qin’an County show diversity, inconsistency in spatial concentration, low overall interaction, and obvious separation of people and land, forming a circle pattern of negative high mismatch-negative medium mismatch-negative low mismatch-positive low mismatch-positive medium mismatch-positive high mismatch, with the phenomenon of more people and less land in the center of the county, while the production space at the edge of the county there is an excess supply of space..(2)The distribution patterns of geographic concentration index, interaction index and spatial mismatch index are analyzed from the perspective of multidimensional gradients such as topographic gradient, economic gradient and urban-rural gradient. As the topographic gradient rises, the topographic conditions gradually deteriorate and the separation of people and land becomes obvious, which is manifested by the decreasing trend of the inconsistency of geographic concentration index and interaction index and spatial mismatch index of rural population and production space, and the increasing trend of spatial mismatch index. With the rise of economic gradient, the inconsistency of geographic concentration index and interaction index show an increasing trend, and the spatial mismatch index shows a decreasing trend. As the urban-rural gradient rises, the distance between urban and rural areas gradually increases, the inconsistency of the geographic concentration index of rural population and production space shows a decreasing trend, and the clustering tendency of the two gradually converges, the change trend of the interaction index is not obvious, the urban-rural distance has a weak influence on the ability of mutual attraction of people and land, and the spatial mismatch index shows an increasing trend, the farther the distance from the urban area, the more adequate the supply of production space.(3)The natural environment is not only the provider of material means of living for the rural population, but also the shaper of the pattern and form of production space, and the relationship between rural population and production space is the result of the long-term and stable action of natural factors. The influence of economic factors on rural population and production space is a complex process of long-term accumulation and mutual influence. The difference between urban and rural development will have different effects on land use patterns, levels and structures, which will cause the relationship between rural population and production space to change with the change of urban-rural gradient.Rural population and production space should take natural, economic and location factors into consideration in the future development planning.
