How To Present The Chinese National Community Consciousness In Documentaries

China has always attached importance to the work in the field of ideology.Since the 18 th Party Congress,the situation in China’s ideological field has undergone a global and fundamental transformation.As the frontier of China’s opening up to the outside world,Xinjiang region is faced with significant historical opportunities as well as many risks and challenges,among which the risks in the field of ideology are still prominent.As the material carrier of ideology,the media and its cultural products have always played an important role in conveying values and uniting people’s hearts.In recent years,the documentary film industry has been developing rapidly.Because of its authenticity and storytelling characteristics,documentary film has become a powerful vehicle for "cultural embellishment" and "telling the story of Xinjiang".The documentary "Snow Lotus Blossoms",which was broadcast in 2021,comprehensively shows Xinjiang in the new era and tells the touching stories of generations of Xinjiang aid workers’ hard work,and has been highly acclaimed and provoked warm reactions since its launch.This paper uses the fantasy theme analysis method to study "Snow Lotus Blossoms",and reveals the values behind the documentary through the specific use of the key steps in the method,such as fantasy theme-fantasy type-rhetorical vision.Through the analysis of the documentary text,five fantasy themes were obtained,on the basis of which two fantasy types were further clustered.The fantasy type "I am going to build the frontier" contains two fantasy themes: "they all have special qualities and spirit" and "the past years of aid to the frontier are precious and unforgettable".The fantasy type "Ethnic unity and family" includes two fantasy themes: "equal ethnicity and mutual benefit" and "broad ethnic identity",while the other fantasy themes are Other fantasy themes are "Ethnic minorities are not different from us".These fantasy themes and fantasy types together present the rhetorical vision of "casting a firm sense of Chinese national community",in which the two types of media images of ethnic minorities and aid workers strengthen the audience’s identification with the aid policy,and on this basis,further highlight the identification with the country,political parties,culture and the Chinese dream.On the basis of the rhetorical vision,the emotional expression of values is further examined.By analyzing the emotional communication symbol "home" in the documentary,it is pointed out that the emotional symbol is an effective carrier to convey the values of the documentary.
