| Taiyuan is located at the northern end of the Jinzhong Basin and has six urban areas under its jurisdiction,of which Xiaodian,Jinyuan,Wanbailin and Jiancaoping have a concentration of villages and well-preserved folklore activities,and the funeral rituals are the most solemn and solemn of all,reflecting local folk beliefs and customs.Taiyuan funeral music is diversified and includes traditional tunes,folk songs and ditties,Jin opera,duodai tune and popular songs,etc.It is a form of music that combines blowing music and funeral drama.As an important part of Taiyuan folk music,Taiyuan funeral music carries social customs in the form of music,and is not only an important part of funeral culture,but also a presentation of social behaviour and folklore.This paper is divided into four chapters,the first of which uses fieldwork to document the flow and use of music in funeral ceremonies in Taiyuan,describing in detail the current state of funeral music in Taiyuan and the use of music in funeral ceremonies by folk blowing groups.The second chapter further analyses the common tunes used in the ceremonial scene,analysing their musical characteristics in terms of key,tonality and melody,drawing inspiration from the "belief-ritual-acoustic" theory,and attempting to explain the relationship between ceremonial music and social culture from the perspective of folk beliefs.The third chapter builds on the previous two chapters to sort out the similarities and differences in Taiyuan funeral rituals and considers the contemporary significance of funeral music through the observation of the current situation of funeral rituals in Taiyuan.The fourth chapter looks at the future of funeral music in Taiyuan,taking into account the historical changes in funeral music in the context of the development of the music class,and offers insights into the transmission of funeral music culture from the perspectives.This paper uses fieldwork and literature research to describe the current state of funeral rituals and music in the Taiyuan area,to examine and demonstrate the musical characteristics of funeral music in Taiyuan,to analyse and compare the folkloric functions to which Taiyuan funeral music belongs,and thus to reveal the significance and influence of Taiyuan funeral music in the lives of the local people,and its potential cultural significance and value. |
