| Respecting the elderly is a fine tradition of the Chinese nation and also a requirement of socialist spiritual civilization.With the rapid development of society and changes in social structure,the problem of aging population in China is becoming more and more serious.Population aging is one of the important features of human development in the new century,and the issue of economic security and care for the elderly is the focus of the aging problem.Society,families and individuals have the responsibility to deal with the aging problem.With the continuous improvement of people’s living standards,the needs of the elderly in old age are increasing.Nowadays,their needs for old age are not only limited to basic issues such as clothing,food,housing,transportation and medical care,but also expressed in spiritual comfort and the pursuit of dignity,therefore,it becomes an urgent requirement to let every old person enjoy dignity.Due to the real situation of China,social policies and theoretical researches of scholars tend to focus on the material security of the elderly,and the increasingly prominent dignity needs of the elderly are often easily ignored.This paper defines the concepts of population aging,Chinese population aging,dignity,and dignity of the elderly,analyzes the background of the study of dignity of the elderly,the significance of the study of dignity of the elderly in the context of population aging,the main problems and causes of dignity of the elderly in China,explores the feasible path of old age love and respect based on the dignity of the elderly,and proposes the maintenance of dignity of the elderly in China from social dignity,life dignity,psychological dignity,etc.It also proposes specific measures to maintain the dignity of the elderly in China from three aspects,and encourages all aspects of society to provide good and effective support to reshape the dignity of the elderly.In conclusion,as a major issue affecting social development,the dignity of the elderly requires not only a unilateral effort,but also strong support from the state and all sectors of society to make their own contribution to enhance the dignity of the elderly in China. |
