Research On China Democratic Founding Association(1945-1949)

The China Democratic Founding Association(referred to as the Democratic Party of China)is a political party established on December 16,1945 in Chongqing by Huang Yanpei,Hu Juewen,Zhang Naiqi,Shi Fuliang,and others.Civil construction is mainly composed of the national bourgeoisie and upper middle class intellectuals associated with it,with a certain social influence.The article takes the China Democratic Founding Association as the research object,adheres to historical materials as the basis,and attempts to sort out the development process of civil construction from 1945 to 1949 by exploring the background,process,political program,organizational overview,and inter party communication of civil construction.Through the development process of civil construction during this period,it is beneficial to understand the historical limitations of civil construction and further understand the reasons for the transformation of civil construction’s political stance.During the Anti Japanese War,two vigorous democratic constitutional movements emerged in the Kuomintang controlled areas.Although they were unsuccessful due to the obstruction of the Nationalist government,these two constitutional movements deeply educated middle and upper class intellectuals and ethnic business owners,giving them the idea of forming a united party.Before and after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan,the economic policies of the Nationalist Government malfunctioned,and the country faced a more severe economic situation,which seriously damaged the interests of ethnic business owners.In the end,under the influence of a series of domestic and foreign ideological theories in the Central Republic,Huang Yanpei,Hu Juewen,Zhang Naiqi,Sun Qimeng,and others actively contacted intellectuals and ethnic business owners,brewing the establishment of a new party.During the preparation process,Huang Yanpei,Hu Juewen,and others mainly agreed on important documents and main issues during the establishment of the association through the "Star Six Dinner Party",and effectively resolved the differences on whether to allow Kuomintang and Communist Party members to join the association and what political stance to take,ultimately enabling the successful establishment of Minjian.After the establishment of Civil Construction,in order to carry out the work smoothly,not only was the political platform issued,but also a leadership organization was established,and various newspapers and magazines were used to promote ideas.Among them,the political platform of Minjian is rich in content,with civil rights and construction as the core,opposing authoritarianism and dictatorship,and has a certain degree of progress.However,its political platform also reflects that civil construction represents more of the interests of the national bourgeoisie and does not fully propose the political goal of anti imperialism and anti feudalism,thus it also has certain limitations.At the same time,the establishment of the Democratic Party of China has also attracted the attention of various forces.Although the Nationalist government does not recognize it,the various intermediate parties in the Central Republic have expressed warm welcome and support.The positive attitude of the Communist Party of China and various intermediate parties is conducive to promoting the development of civil construction work.After the establishment of the Civil Construction Corporation,it has established a sound organizational structure,established a mature leadership core,expanded its membership,raised funds from multiple sources,and actively utilized peripheral organizations to carry out work,all of which reflect its good organizational and operational capabilities.However,due to various reasons,there are also drawbacks in the organizational system of civil construction,such as inconsistent thinking,lax organization,and relatively insufficient social mobilization ability.This not only directly affects the development of civil construction work,but also lays the groundwork for its final decision to accept the leadership of the Communist Party of China.As an intermediate party,after its establishment,the Democratic Party of China(DAB)also prudently handled its relationships with the Kuomintang,the Communist Party,the Democratic League,and other intermediate political groups.For the Kuomintang,during the old CPPCC meeting,the Democratic Party of China(DAB)was once full of expectations for it.However,with the strengthening of the Kuomintang’s reactionary rule,DAB gradually recognized the Kuomintang’s democratic fraud and became increasingly disappointed with the Nationalist government,ultimately leading to a rupture.For the Communist Party,during the early days of its establishment,the Democratic Party of China(DAB)maintained a skeptical and neutral attitude,but with the changing situation,especially under the influence of the CCP’s united front policy,DAB gradually approached the CCP.After responding to the "May Day Call",although Minjian did not immediately decide to accept the leadership of the Communist Party of China,it strengthened its ties with the Communist Party of China.The victory of the three major battles and the launch of the New Political Consultative Conference movement made Minjian fully realize that there was no other choice but to accept the leadership of the Communist Party of China.In early 1949,the leaders of the Democratic Party of China issued a joint statement deciding to accept the leadership of the Communist Party of China and expressed their full support for the new regime at the convening of the New Political Consultative Conference.At the same time,the Democratic Party of China(DAB)also has close relationships with the Democratic League and other intermediate political groups.They not only have overlapping leadership positions,but also jointly carry out a series of political activities.Due to the deep connection between Minjian and the Democratic League,Minjian was falsely accused by the Nationalist government as a peripheral organization of the League.However,it has been proven that Minjian is an independent bourgeois political party and is not controlled by any party.By studying the development process of the civil construction in this period,we can clearly recognize the historical limitations of the civil construction in terms of political opinions,organizational systems,and political positions,understand the inevitability of the transition of the civil construction from the "middle road" to the New Democracy road,and observe the changes of the party ecology and social politics in the later period of the civil construction.
