A Singing Analysis Of Adele’s Coloratura In The Operetta "Die Fledemaus"

Johann Strauss Jr.is known as the "King of the Ballade" and composed 16 light operas in his lifetime,of which "The Bat" is the most important one.Adele,as an indispensable character in the whole opera,drives the development of the storyline.In the light opera "The Bat",Adele sings a total of three arias: "A Letter from My Sister" "The Marquis Please Listen" and "When I Play the Innocent Country Girl".There are rich and complex passages in her three arias that add color and challenge to the music.This paper focuses precisely on the florid passages of Adele’s arias,analyzes the singing of the florid passages of the three arias,and makes a targeted design for the training of the florid passages in conjunction with her own stage practice,and also analyzes and summarizes the changes in Adele’s characterization under the florid passages.This thesis is discussed in five chapters: Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction to the life of Johann Strauss,the background of the creation of "The Bat" and the plot overview;Chapter 2 analyzes the three arias of Adele from the perspective of the literary text;Chapter 3,on the basis of the classification of florid forms,classifies and summarizes the florid forms appearing in the arias of Adele;Chapter 4 analyzes the singing of the florid passages of the three arias,and combines its own stage practice to analyze the changes in the characterization of the florid passages.The fourth chapter analyzes the singing of the three arias’ florid passages,and makes a targeted design for the training of the florid passages in combination with its own stage practice.Chapter5 analyzes and summarizes the changes of Adele’s image by taking the cadenza passage as an entry point.Through the above research,we hope to provide vocal learners with more practical ideas to solve the problems in singing the florid passages.
