| Between the Song and Yuan Dynasties,the disciples of Zhu Xi set up their own schools one after another,each one annotating and explicating the meaning of the Si Shu Xue according to Zhu Xi’s teachings.Different interpretations caused disagreements among them.Hu Bing wen(1250-1333)from Xin’an school inherited the family teachings,dedicated himself to the original meaning of Zhu Xi’s Si Shu Xue,and wrote the Si Shu Tong.The Si Shu Tong was written in the style of annotation and connected with Zhu Xi’s Collected Commentaries,synthesizing different schools of thoughts.Its explanations were subtle and well-organized,forming a unified discourse.The Si Shu Tong became one of the sources of the Ming Dynasty’s Four Classics Comprehensive.Da Xue Tong starts with the way of Zhu Xi Da Xue Zhang Ju,proposes that Ming Ming De is the new view of the general outline of the university.He emphasizes Ming Ming De through the relationship between knowledge and practice,connects and penetrates the efforts of knowledge and practice,emphasizes the practice of self-cultivation,and aims to return to the Confucian moral cultivation.The basic ideas of the Da Xue Tong are recorded in the Four Books and their academic ideas have had a lasting influence.This paper will read Hu Bing wen’s Da Xue Tong textually,analyze the classics,sort out Hu Bing wen’s academic thoughts,explore his invention of Zhu Xue,discuss its academic influence and contribution to Zhu Xi Xue. |
