A Report On E-C Translation Of Ezra Pound And Confucianism-Remaking Humanism In The Face Of Modernity(Chapter 3) | | Posted on:2024-06-15 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:M Y Zhai | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2545307100964039 | Subject:Translation | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | This report is based on the translation practice of Chapter 3 of Ezra Pound and Confucianism--Remaking Humanism in the Face of Modernity written by Feng Lan,which was published by the University of Toronto Press in 2005 and has been no Chinese version so far.This book primarily discusses the influence of Confucianism on Pound.In the third chapter of this book,the author talks about Confucianism and Pound’s political views,including Pound’s comprehension and application of Chinese characters and Confucian terms,the author’s exploration of Pound’s individualism,Pound’s construction of the image of Confucius and his vision of an ideal society.There is no Chinese version so far.To translate this chapter,Pound’s political thoughts will be better understood and it will contribute to the study of “Pound and Confucianism” in China’s academic circles.Based on the CEA framework proposed by Li Changshuan(2020),this report analyzes the problems encountered in the translation practice and provides feasible translation strategies from three aspects: comprehension,expression and adaptation.First of all,the source text contains some proper nouns,foreign languages,Pound’s works and Confucian doctrines.Lots of relevant materials are consulted to accurately comprehend and properly convey the original information.Secondly,without missing the source text’s meaning,voice changes,reconstruction,amplification,division and inversion are adopted to deal with long sentences,so as to enhance the readability of the version.This report aims to provide other translators with a specific translation case of literary review texts,which can help them better handle relevant translation strategies and methods. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Ezra Pound, Confucianism, “Comprehension,Expression,Adaption”, Division, Reconstruction | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
