On Chen Wangheng’s Environmental Aesthetics Research

Chen Wangheng’s environmental aesthetics,with its quality of emphasizing both theory and practice,has attracted the attention of numerous scholars and modern planners since its birth.His research on environmental aesthetics is rooted in traditional Chinese philosophy and the reality of contemporary development,drawing on the nutrients of Western environmental aesthetics,and has grown into a tree of environmental aesthetics with Chinese characteristics.His environmental aesthetics thoughts pay great attention to and reflect on the problems encountered in China’s modernization drive,advocating the integration of tradition and modernity with a“sense of homeland”as the core and “ecological civilization”as the foundation,emphasizing both humanistic sentiments and highlighting the value of ecological civilization,not only meeting the needs of the development of ecological civilization in the post industrial era,but also looking forward to returning to the traditional aesthetic model of symbiosis between man and nature at a higher level.In order to comprehensively review Chen Wangheng’s research on environmental aesthetics,the main body of the paper is divided into three parts.The first part states the main content of Chen Wangheng’s research on environmental aesthetics,which is based on the theory of “ecological civilization”,regards “happy living”as the life theme of environmental aesthetics,attaches importance to the modern relationship between resources and environment,emphasizes the construction of “homes” led by aesthetic principles,and focuses on the trend of future agricultural development to build “beautiful villages”,Committed to building an environmental aesthetic system rich in Chinese characteristics and practical value.The second part starts with the theoretical resources absorbed by Chen Wangheng to deepen his understanding of his environmental aesthetics research,exploring his commitment to build an aesthetic process that enables dialogue between China and the West.During this process,he has extensively absorbed ancient Chinese aesthetic resources,western environmental philosophical aesthetic thoughts,and modern ecological civilization wisdom.Among them,the reference to traditional Chinese harmonious thoughts will provide ideas for solving the problems encountered in future environmental aesthetics.The third part analyzes the relationship between Chen Wangheng’s research on environmental aesthetics,contemporary ecological aesthetics and contemporary landscape aesthetics from a comparative perspective,and it evaluates and grasps his contributions based on the development of contemporary Chinese aesthetics.
