Young Friedrich Engels’s Contribution To The Historical Materialism Process

Historical materialism is a science about real people and their historical development,providing scientific viewpoints and methodologies for correctly understanding social phenomena and laws of social and historical development.Historical materialism is an important content of Marxism and one of the two major historical contributions in Marx’s life.However,Engels also played an irreplaceable role in the creation of historical materialism,making his unique contribution to the creation of historical materialism from the "other path".Some Western Marxists split the relationship between Marx and Engels and ignored their unique contributions to the creation of historical materialism.This view is wrong and not realistic enough.Therefore,this thesis studies the establishment process of historical materialism through relevant literature review and ideological history review,and summarizes the specific historical contributions made by Engels to the establishment of historical materialism.This article consists of six major parts:The first part is an introduction,which clarifies the origin and significance of the topic selection of this thesis,summarizes the current research status at home and abroad,draws the conclusion that there is asymmetry in current academic research,and proposes the innovation and shortcomings of this thesis.The second part mainly analyzes the realistic conditions under which young Engels contributed to the establishment of historical materialism.The reason why Engels was able to contribute to the establishment of historical materialism is due to his unique character and growth experience,and the objective conditions created by the factors of the times.These all provide an important foundation for Engels to make contributions.The third part mainly combs the development process of young Engels’ formation of historical materialism.One is that during the Bremen Berlin period,En’s historical materialism began to conceive;Second,in the Manchester period,Engels gradually approached the historical materialism;Third,during the Paris Brussels period,Engels and Marx jointly established the historical materialism.The fourth part mainly summarizes the specific contributions made by young Engels to the establishment of historical materialism.First,the issue of historical development dynamics,pointing out the "material interests" and the promoting role of science and technology;The second is the general law of historical development,which initially proposes the principle of contradiction between productivity and production relations,economic foundation,and superstructure;Third,pointing out the fate and historical mission of the working class;Fourth,it deeply discusses the theory of social revolution.The fifth part mainly analyzes the distinctive characteristics of young Engels’ approach to historical materialism.Firstly,Engels emphasized the combination of positivism and speculation;Second,Engels emphasized the combination of theory and practice;Third,Engels emphasized the combination of scientific rationality and human emotions.The sixth part mainly analyzes the significance of the research on the contribution of young Engels to the creation of historical materialism.Through the research,we can draw conclusions such as scientifically grasping the relationship between Marx and Engels,the integrity of Marxism,and promoting the modernization of Marxism in China.
