Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky(1840-1893)is one of the great musicians in Russia in the 19 th century,known as the "master of Russian music" and "master of melody".His works combine the language of Russian folk music with the achievements of Western European classical and romantic music,and are also influenced by some Polish music,with a unique creative style."Romance in f Minor" is a lyric work that Tchaikovsky dedicated to his fiancee Aalto.Using the musical language of Russia and other regions in Europe,the work presents the musical characteristics of multiple nationalities,reflecting his unique creative style.This paper mainly analyzes the work from three aspects.The first chapter is a brief introduction of Tchaikovsky’s life and the creation background of "Romance in f Minor".The second chapter is the embodiment of the characteristics of multi-ethnic music in “Romance in f minor”,mainly combining Tchaikovsky’s creative style to analyze the musical characteristics of the work.The third chapter is performance analysis,and practicing and solving technical difficulties which summarizes the performance of the work from four aspects: the interpretation of Russian folk melodies,the presentation of other ethnic music characteristics and processing of the same music materials.From the perspective of the composer’s creative style,the author intends to deepen the understanding of "Romance in f Minor" by studying the creation characteristics of the work.To lay a good theoretical foundation for actual performance and accumulate experience for future theoretical research.
