After the COVID-19,tourism is in dire need of updating its development model and finding the right strategies to meet the challenges of the times. Therefore, the report chooses chapters 5 and 7 of Asian Tourism Sustainability as the original text and launches a study focusing on the translation of long sentences.Long sentences appear frequently in the original text, and their structures are more complicated, which makes it more challenging to understand the content. So,it is essential to analyze the structure of long sentences. This thesis summarizes the translation problems of English long sentences into the following three aspects.Firstly, there are diversified prepositional phrases, including the parallel structures and nested structures.Secondly, the original text contains several subject-predicate separating structures and parentheses.Thirdly, the ellipsis and the substitution structures often show in long sentences. This thesis proposes corresponding solutions through translation and revision based on these problems.Firstly, the method of inversion and amplification are used to solve the problem of diversified prepositional phrases.Secondly, the method of recasting and preposition can address the problem of the frequent occurrence of separating structures. Finally, the method of compensation and reproduction are adopted for hidden structures in long sentences. The translation problems and solutions analyzed in this thesis come from the translation practice of social science texts.Hopefully,it will provide some reference for the translation of long sentences in similar texts.
