| The thesis consists of two parts: translation practice guided by Vermeer’s skopos theory and translation practice report based on the practice.The source text is selected from Understanding Development and Proficiency in Writing: Quantitative Corpus Linguistics Approaches(Chapter 2)which is jointly written by Philip Durant,Mark Brunchery and Lee Mc Callum,with a total of 19,200 words.There is no Chinese translation of this source text.It is an academic text which is published by Cambridge University Press.It explains how writing develops in English by using a methodology known as quantitative corpus linguistics.The second chapter lays a theoretical and methodological foundation for the study of this book.It explains the concepts of writing,writing proficiency and development,and discusses the advantages and limitations of quantitative corpus linguistics.Under the guidance of Vermeer’s skopos theory,the translator completed the translation practice according to the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.The translator strives to make the translation not only easy to understand,which meets the skopos rule,but also be coherent and faithful to the source text.And finally presenting a qualified translation with the significance of learning and reference for the readers.Based on the translation practice,this report analyzes the application of translation techniques under the principles of skopos,coherence,and fidelity,confirming the important guiding significance of skopos theory for the translation of academic texts.Through this translation practice,the translator has enhanced the translation competence and ability to deal with problems.The translation is helpful for readers to learn quantitative corpus linguistics,and has certain reference value for the subsequent translation of such texts. |
