| As a long-established letterpress printing technique,woodcut has gradually entered the realm of painting art from its initial use as an important means of illustrating books and reproducing paintings.In recent years,the influence of the world of art has become increasingly widespread,while images and visual information are constantly reacting to art.The emergence of new media and the creation of new forms of art has induced a transformation in the formal language of art,which has led to a considerable metamorphosis compared to the past.In particular,in the field of printmaking,printmakers have begun to bring new creative thinking to their work as well as continuous innovation and expansion in material and media techniques,resulting in the diversification of the creative approach and formal language of woodcut printmaking and the formation of a new pattern of contemporary woodcut.As an art and culture with a history of over 300 years,woodcut is also in a stage of transformation and development in the contemporary context.This paper adopts a method of data collection,example analysis and practical summary.The first chapter of the paper introduces the definition of woodcut and an overview of the development of woodcut.The first chapter defines woodcut and outlines how it evolved from’white line engraving’ to the woodcut printmaking technique.In the nineteenth century,it became the main means of reproducing illustrations and paintings.After the twentieth century,some printmakers moved away from the concept of reproduction prints,giving woodcut printmaking a new vitality;Chapter 2 analyses the artistic characteristics of woodcut in terms of the compositional language of dots,lines and surfaces,as well as the expressive language of knife marks and wood taste;Chapter 3 begins with an analysis of the development of the formal language of woodcut.With the development of society,the change in the concept of woodcut printmakers has also brought about a certain influence on the development of woodcut,as printmakers began to explore the real inner world,combined with their personal aesthetic consciousness,and borrowed the visual culture aesthetics of contemporary art to present the spiritual experience in contemporary society.The fourth chapter is an analysis of representative contemporary printmakers and their works,illustrating the transformation of the various formal languages of woodcut in an open and free context,and the expansion and extension of their formal languages to explore the aesthetic significance of the contemporary era;from a practical point of view,the fourth chapter composes the important influence of formal languages on my own woodcut creation and the intrinsic connection between formal languages and woodcut creation,reflecting on and opening up a new face of personal The fourth chapter is a practical overview of the important influence of formal language on my woodcut creations and the intrinsic link between formal language and woodcut creations. |
