| Folklore photography is a kind of photography that takes folklore as its object.It is both an art form and a product of the cross-fertilization of sociology,folklore,history,anthropology and archaeology.In the process of continuous social development,people gradually realize that folklore is one of the richest and most interesting photographic subjects in life.Folklore is a large and complex system,carrying the local culture,folk customs and collective memory of specific ethnic groups in a particular region,which has great cultural,historical and aesthetic values,especially for the folklore culture of minority regions.As an image work that records people’s production and living practices,it reflects the survival state and spiritual pursuit of people in an era or region with a unique perspective,and also expresses their aspiration for a better life.Such diverse forms of photography not only record the form of folk culture,but also show the spiritual outlook and lifestyle of people in this cultural context.Folklore photography is photography that uses images as a medium to express the diversity and complexity of human culture through a variety of subjects and forms.It is not only a record of the history of social development of a nation or region,but also a microcosm of the folk culture of that nation or region,and an important window to understand the lifestyle and religious beliefs of local residents.At the same time,the art of folklore photography contains many subjects and rich and diversified cultural information.Therefore,folklore photography from the perspective of folklore studies is of great significance.In today’s era of cultural studies and interdisciplinary research,folklore photography has gradually become a new way to study the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.From the perspective of folklore,folklore is a variety of material and spiritual life forms created by people in the process of social and historical development,as well as the corresponding institutional norms,behavioral norms and customs.It reflects the cultural background of an era in the form of image expression and image language,which is conducive to the study and deep excavation of folk culture.As a visual symbol system with "people" as its core,folklore photography has various means of expression.It can present the unique value and cultural significance of its subjects through different forms of expression,such as conceptual,thematic and documentary.Conceptual expression is to convey the meaning of the subject by expressing the photographer’s personal views and emotions;thematic expression is to present the cultural connotation and characteristics of the subject by selecting a specific folklore theme;documentary expression is to record the life and cultural status of the subject.Folklore photography is not only an art form,but also an important means to protect and inherit national culture and promote the development of human civilization.By showing the diversity and complexity of ethnic culture,it promotes and inherits ethnic culture,fosters ethnic unity and cultural exchange,and helps protect and inherit the cultural heritage of ethnic minorities.Through the study and analysis of folklore photography,we can gain an in-depth understanding of the cultural characteristics and historical backgrounds of different ethnic groups and further promote the development of cultural studies and interdisciplinary research.Therefore,folklore photography has an extremely important role in terms of both theoretical value and practical significance.It not only shows the richness and historical origins of ethnic cultures,but also helps to promote the protection and development of cultural diversity and mutual understanding and communication among different ethnic groups,while making an important contribution to the development of human civilization.The author’s in-depth study of folklore photography not only gives him a deeper understanding,but also provides a solid theoretical foundation for completing the creation of Xinjiang Uyghurs.During the research process,the author conducted a comprehensive investigation into the folk culture of Xinjiang Uyghurs by means of site visits,literature collection,and field photography,collected a large amount of field materials,and combined them with literature to deeply grasp the folk culture of Xinjiang Uyghur,thus completing the creation of photographing Xinjiang Uyghurs. |
