The most profound significance of Camus’ analysis of the absurd is that he uses the rejection of meaning and the definition of meaning as an alternative way of answering the question.In Camus we see the multifaceted nature and deeper value of the absurd-which does not necessarily lead to doubt,pessimism and nothingness-and the third way paved by his ’philosophy of the absurd’,which has made a remarkable contribution to the search for a code of human life and the promotion of love for man and the world in which he lives.Although Camus did not present himself as a philosopher,and was even regarded as a layman of philosophy by the likes of Sartre,by creating new philosophical themes centred on the absurd,especially artistic expressions of the phenomenological method,and a literary style that unified literature and philosophy,Camus practised philosophy,catering to his rebellion against empirical science,his concern for the human person and his radical turn towards the living world.Resisting the dominant ideologies of the bourgeoisie and philosophy,flirting with and ridiculing the traditional moral order,the indifference of human relations and the fetishism of money,and reflecting the anxiety of existence,the emptiness of the spirit and the confusion of survival,Camus’ s thought represents a rich source of inspiration for reflecting on the universal existential dilemma of modern man in the twentieth-century Western intellectual world of reflection and enquiry into the existence of man and the direction of human society.Fundamentally,it is a philosophy of absurdity that reduces the plight of modern man,a moral philosophy of how individuals live,and an anthropology that seeks a way out for the’criminal’ who has been denied the right to forgiveness.The absurd is gradually becoming the new normal,and its duality demands that we treat it as a whole and use human logic to reshape the "new" form of civilisation,thus reversing the upside-down relationship between man and reason,capital,etc.and achieving a return to man and humanity,as well as a reconciliation of man’s relationship with nature and society.
