The journal Music Review was published and edited by the Shanghai Music Education Association in the late 1940 s,and had a wide and far-reaching impact on the dissemination and popularization of music culture in China.This dissertation takes the journal Music Review as the object of study and the journal’s music history as the entry point,and systematically organizes and thoroughly studies the contents of the journal during the two years 1948-1949.The thesis is divided into four chapters,except for the introduction and conclusion.Finally,the characteristics of the journal are analyzed from the perspective of its layout and column settings.The second and third chapters analyze the textual content of the journal Music Review,dividing the historical content of the journal into the analysis of Chinese music and the analysis of Western music through the inductive method,and reading the relevant essays.Thus,it is possible to understand the musical and cultural life of Chinese society,the current state of development of Chinese music,the popularity and widespread of Western music,in Chinese musical society and culture in the late 1940 s,as well as the development of musical society and culture and musical and cultural life in Western countries in the same period.Chapter 4 is a summary of the artistic features and historical values embodied in the periodical Music Review.Through the analysis and interpretation of the textual content of the periodical in Chapters 2 and 3,and then combined with the characteristics of the periodical itself,the historical values and historical significance embodied in the periodical Music Review are summarized. |
