| With the rapid development of globalization,English,as a global language,has been valued and welcomed by many countries.Meanwhile,it has become one of the important subjects in Chinese high school teaching.The latest 2017 Senior High School English Curriculum Standards require to strengthen students’ English reading and writing ability and listening comprehension ability,pay attention to the use of language in real situations,and cultivate students’ cultural character and thinking quality through reading teaching.Therefore,the teaching of English reading has always been the focus of teachers in the teaching of senior high school subjects.With the inquiry-based learning model coming into public view,scholars at home and abroad have conducted a lot of in-depth research on it from multiple perspectives.By referring to relevant literature,the author found that the application of inquisitive learning mode from the perspective of core literacy in high school English reading teaching is not enough.Therefore,this study selected 118 students from two classes of senior one of a middle school,and adopted a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods,including questionnaire survey,pre-reading test and post-reading test,interview,etc.Data were collected and analyzed,and the purpose of this study was to explore the following questions: 1.How about the application of inquiry-based learning in English reading teaching in senior high school;2.What is the impact of inquiry-based learning mode on high school students’ English reading performance? 3.What is the influence of inquisitive learning mode on the cultivation of students’ core literacy?The results show that after the experimental class adopts the inquiry-based learning mode,the students’ English reading performance is improved,and the experimental class’ s post-test performance is higher than that of the control class on average,and has a significant improvement.This fully indicates that students’ reading comprehension ability has increased after the application of inquiry-based learning mode.In addition,students’ language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality,learning ability and other qualities have been improved in the process of completing corresponding inquiry learning tasks.The study suggests that in future inquisitive teaching,teachers’ language ability and teaching skills should be further cultivated,and two-way classroom interaction between teachers and students should be emphasized,so as to better promote the cultivation of students’ English reading teaching quality and core literacy. |
