An Internship Report On Artwork Auction Translation

In recent years,online art sales have grown in popularity.Online art transactions totaled more than $13 billion in 2021.During a translation internship program for an auction platform from December 2019 to August 2022,the author translated more than 40 auctions.The translation of the titles and brief descriptions of art from Chinese into English was the main objective of the internship.By evaluating and organizing the translated materials from domestic and international museum furnishing words and significant auction houses,the author produced a bilingual terminology database for artwork translation,particularly the Chinese-English terminology database for porcelain translation.This increased the efficiency and correctness of the translation.The wording and translation style employed may have an impact on the auction sale rate and the sale price.The writer also explored the translation of artworks using computer-assisted translation tools and post-translation editing,assuring consistency in translation style and further enhancing translation effectiveness.The author learned the importance of artwork translation in international art transactions through this internship in artwork translation.By looking at the participant’s psychology and the auction results,it is feasible to boost the sales rate of the auction by figuring out the best translation style.Future translations of artwork will also require the aid of translation technology and software to further improve their accuracy and efficacy.
