Action Research Of The Effects Of The Continuation Task On Senior High School Learners’ Writing Ability

In 2016,a new question type combining writing to reading appeared in the college entrance examination of Zhejiang Province – “ Continuation Task”,which requires candidates to give priority to reading articles with only the beginning and no end,and then continue to write according to the content of the article to complete the full text,which is different from traditional ways of writing.At present,the research and discussion on“Continuation Task” at home are still in the initial stage and there is few research about combining “Continuation Task” to writing ability of senior high school learners.Based on that,this paper would try to explore the influence of continuation task to the writing ability of senior high school learners.Based on the input hypothesis,output hypothesis and interaction hypothesis,this paper attempts to explore the following problems:(1)Does continuation task improve high school students’ attitude towards writing?(2)What are impacts of continuation task on writing ability of high school students? This paper takes D Middle School in Hanzhong as a research sample to conduct an action study on the students in the first grade of the junior high school.This study lasted for ten weeks.During the implementation process,this study carried out “Continuation Task” training for the students.After the end of the action research stage,this paper not only conducted quantitative research based on students’ test results,but also conducted qualitative research through interviews and class record,and used SPSS26.0 and EXCEL software to summarize and analyze the survey results.The study found that continuation task can have a positive impact on senior high school learners,specifically in learners’ cognitive,emotional and behavioral tendencies towards writing.Continuation task also has an obvious learning effect on senior high school learners’ writing,which can improve the writing ability of learners to a certain extent,which is embodied in the richer writing language content,and the more prominent expression ability and creative ability;The layout of the article becomes more accurate,and the number and level of using correct conjunction have been improved.At the same time,the logical thinking ability of learners has been improved to different degrees,and the connection between sentences become more reasonable;In addition,the impact on improving purposive ability of learners is not obvious.
