Collaborative memory refers to the memory that is jointly retrieved by two or more people.Autobiographical memory is memory that is closely related to personal real-life events.People often discuss personal experiences with others, and these events are generally accompanied by strong emotional experiences. In recently years, scholars have begun to pay attention to the effect of collaborative memory on autobiographical memory, but existing studies only examine the collaborative retrieval of negative autobiographical memory. There is a lack of research on the retrieval performance of autobiographical collaborative memory under other emotional stimuli.Additionally, autobiographical memory is a unique form of self-memory that is susceptible to the influence of social dynamic, and the collaborative pattern serves as an important factor influencing collaborative memory.Currently,no empirical research have been found to explore the influence of collaborative pattern on collaborative memory within the context of autobiographical memory. Therefore, this study conducted three experiments to explore the recall performance of autobiographical collaborative memory under different valences, compare the retrieval characteristics of autobiographical collaborative memory from the perspectives of free-flowing recall and turn-taking recall, and further explore the cognitive and neural mechanisms behind it.Experiment 1 employed a 2(group: turn-taking recall group, nominal group)× 3(valence of cue words: positive, negative, neutral)mixed design to examine the influence of turn-taking on autobiographical memory. The group was a between-subject variable, and the dependent variables were the retrieval scores and emotional changes of specific autobiographical memory. The results indicated that, during the collaborative retrieval phase,The positive specificity memory performance in the nominal group tended to be higher than that in the turn-taking recall group, and the retrieval performance of positive events was better than that of negative and neutral events.During the second retrieval phase,a post-collaborative inhibition effect was observed in the retrieval of positive specific memories.Emotional changes were consistent with memory retrieval results,as the degree of decrease in positive emotions was significantly higher in the turn-taking recall group than in the nominal group.Experiment 2 employed a 2(group: free-flowing recall group, nominal group)×3(valence of cue words: positive, negative, neutral)mixed design to investigate the impact of free-flowing recall on autobiographical memory. The results showed that autobiographical memory exhibited a collaborative facilitation effect in the collaborative retrieval phase, and the retrieval performance of positive events was the best.In the second retrieval phase, the specificity of recall for positive events was higher than that for negative events. The emotional decline of the free-flowing recall group was significantly higher than that of the nominal group, and the emotional decline of negative events in both groups was higher than that of positive and neutral events.Experiment 3 employed a 2(group: turn-taking recall group,free-flowing recall group)× 2(valence of cue words: positive, negative)mixed design, using functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS)hyperscanning technique to explore the neural mechanisms underlying the influence of collaborative pattern on autobiographical memory retrieval. The results indicated that in both memory retrievals,free-flowing recall performed better than turn-taking recall, and both groups also showed a positivity bias in memory retrieval. There was no significant difference in the degree of emotional decline between positive and negative events in the turn-taking recall group, while the emotional decline of negative events in the free-flowing recall group was higher than that of positive events. The neuroimaging results confirmed the behavioral results, providing neural evidence. The free-flowing recall group exhibited an inter-brain synchronization activation in the right temporoparietal junction(TPJ)and prefrontal cortex(PFC),with a higher level of inter-brain synchronization activation in the right TPJ than turn-taking recall.According to the above experimental results, the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)Due to the positivity bias in the retrieval of emotional autobiographical memory, collaborative autobiographical memory exhibited an overall collaborative facilitation effect during the collaborative retrieval phase. This supports the retrieval strategy disruption hypothesis.(2)Turn-taking recall pattern produced an inhibitory effect on subsequent individual memory retrieval, with memories being generalized and negative, consistent with the rapid decline in positive emotional experience of events. This finding supports the affect regulation hypothesis in autobiographical memory.(3)Free-flowing recall leads to more specific and positive personal memory,as reflected by increased inter-brain synchrony. The free-flowing recall group showed significantly higher inter-brain synchrony when recalling positive events than the turn-taking recall group.(4)Collaborative group members performed better in free-flowing recall than in turn-taking,and the free-flowing recall group successfully activated the PFC and the right TPJ associated related to theory of mind, indicating that free-flowing recall is more conducive to optimal retrieval strategies for group members.
