| With the growth of China’s international influence,the number of international students coming to China is expanding,and the issue of this group’s cognition of Chinese culture has attracted much attention.Based on the "Chinese Culture Project List" developed by Professor Zhou Xiaobing and his team,taking 115 international students in China as the survey object,this thesis researches on the overall cultural cognition of the international students in China,cultural cognition of different types of international students in China,the correlation between cultural understanding and interest.The following main results were obtained: Firstly,in terms of cognitive difficulties,the main difficulties for international students in China to understand Chinese culture are their low level of Chinese language and fewer Chinese friends,and the differences in cultural cognitive difficulties of different types of international students are mainly concentrated in these two aspects.Secondly,in terms of understanding of and interest in Chinese culture,international students in China generally do not know much about Chinese culture,but they are more interested.Meanwhile,there are obvious differences in the level of understanding of Chinese culture among international students of different Chinese proficiency,major types,different regions,genders and education levels,but different types of international students have no obvious differences in the degree of interest in Chinese culture.In addition,the correlation analysis and regression analysis of the results of the questionnaire found that: there is a significantly mediumstrength positive correlation between the degree of understanding of and interest in Chinese culture of international students in China;there is a significantly strong positive correlation between the Chinese proficiency,the level of communication with Chinese people and the understanding of Chinese culture of the international students in China,while the relationship between education level and cultural understanding is not very close.Besides,the correlation between these three factors and the degree of interest in Chinese culture is relatively weak.Based on the survey results,the differences in Chinese language proficiency and cross-cultural communication among different types of international students in China are mainly discussed and analyzed.According to the degree of understanding of and interest in Chinese culture,the Chinese cultural projects are sorted out,and they are divided into three types: high understanding and interest,low understanding but high interest,and low understanding and interest.In response to the difficulties of international students in China’s cognition of Chinese culture,suggestions are made in four aspects: providing extensive external support,improving Chinese proficiency,enriching cognitive pathways,and enhancing learning needs.Moreover,in view of the degree of understanding and interest of international students in Chinese culture,it is proposed that when compiling cultural textbooks,arranging teaching activities,and conducting cross-cultural communication,cultural projects with high degree of understanding and interest should be used first.It also provides some methods to improve the understanding and interest of international students in China of Chinese cultural projects.To a certain extent,it can help international students in China have a comprehensive understanding of their own Chinese cultural cognition,and promote their own understanding and learning of Chinese culture;it can help cultural teaching and textbook compilation in teaching Chinese as a second language. |
