| Since 2016,a number of provinces have attempted to adopt the task of narrative essay “reading-writing integrated continuation” in the reform of English writing in College Entrance Examination.Research on reading-writing integrated continuation have gradually become one of the hot topics in the field of language acquisition.Based on narrative texts in continuation tasks of College Entrance Examination,this thesis delves into Greimassian semiotic square in narrative theory to make it more effective to predetermine the plot generation and the trend of the narrative,and to expand students’ divergent thinking in continuation writing.The plot generation paradigm constructed by means of semiotic square is a specific realization of “form” generating “significance”.The transformation process can enhance students’ language competence in critical thinking.In plot-generating paradigm construction,the intervention of neutral terms constitutes a trichotomous contradictory paradigm,and the trichotomous contradictory categorization of two contraries can help students to better understand the original reading text,and to make the output of the generated plots align with the original reading text,which enriches the plots of the narrative continuation as well.The subsequent introduction of “voluntary states of the subject” into the plot presupposition,assists in deviating the generated continuation from conventional thinking by means of forming either disjunctive relation or conjunctive relation between different subjects and objects of value.In addition,permutations of different plots are adopted to generate quite a few storylines.In line with the requirements of ideological attitude and values in the current high school curriculum standards,the truth-falsehood veridiction square is applied to verify the significance authenticity of the newly-generated plot,so as to make an effort to obtain a realistic and rational plot structure which can be reckoned as a deviation from conventional thinking.This sort of research focusing on plot structure is fundamentally a process of constructing a significance-generating paradigm.Compared with language expression studies,it builds up a logical cognitive truth-seeking model on the basis of improving students’ linguistic competence,which,meanwhile,contributes to broadening students’ logical cognitive dimension.Under the background of the new College Entrance Examination reform,the paradigm of the extraction of contraries from the given plot may become one of the efficient training modes to cultivate students’ critical thinking in writing. |
