The role of the Chinese dictionaries for foreign learners in the process of vocabulary learning cannot be ignored.Although the current lexicographers have begun to pay attention to the differences between foreign and domestic-oriented dictionary,they are not enough to meet the needs of second language learners.This paper selects The Commercial Press Learner’s Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese as the research corpus,and uses the relevant theories of lexicology and lexicography,and adopts the methods of quantitative and qualitative research and comparison to investigate the examples of polysemous examples.This paper discusses the example theory of the Chinese dictionaries for foreign learners,and then makes a quantitative analysis of the polysemous words in the dictionary.And this paper describes and analyzes the form,quantity,type,and content of examples,and compares them with Pleco,an influential bilingual electronic dictionary among second language learners,to summarize and analyze the characteristics and shortcomings of examples of polysemous words in monolingual Chinese dictionaries for foreign learners.Most of the examples can be adapted to the sense of polysemous words,and can basically show the semantic information and grammatical functions of the interpreted words.But there are also some defects: in the form of examples,the typesetting is not enough to highlight the key points,and some of the order is against the order;in the supplementary interpretation,a small number of examples are inconsistent with the interpretation,and the language of the examples violates the real context;in the display of grammatical functions,the display of the grammatical functions of polysemy verbs is not unified,and the usage of words in the real language environment is not displayed.To solve these problems,combined with the example theory,this paper puts forward some suggestions for improvement: standardizing the exemplification style,dividing the senses to revise the entries,improving the practicability of examples,improving the internal closed-loop of the dictionary,etc.The purpose of this paper is to improve the accuracy and practicability of polysemous examples in the Chinese dictionaries for foreign learners,and improve the mastery and use efficiency of polysemous words for second language learners. |
