This paper is a study of Wang kuipe’s shadow play.Wangkui shadow play is a folk drama form that expresses the story by borrowing light and developing.It has a history of more than 200 years.Wangkui shadow play is the representative of Heilongjiang’s "Jiangbei school" shadow play.It was rated as a national intangible cultural heritage in2008 and won the Best Drama Award of the "Golden Lion Award" in the 2015 national puppet shadow play(Festival).It plays an important role in Chinese shadow play art.However,with the progress of science and technology,the richness and variety of people’s daily life style,and the increasingly serious aging phenomenon of shadow puppet artists,Wangkui shadow play is on the decline and on the verge of being lost...Therefore,it is extremely urgent to dig its internal structure and explore its cultural connotation in depth.This research has important practical and historical significance.This study adopts the research method of ethnomusicology and music ethnography to sort out the literature and analyze the case of the constituent elements of Wangkui shadow play team,shadow plays,actors and shadow rolls,and conduct field investigation and artistic characteristics analysis of the traditional repertoire of Wangkui shadow play,at the same time,it combines the classic theories of Western Ethnomusicology: the "conceptualization,behavior,music sound" mode of Alan P.Merriam,a famous American ethnomusicologist,and the "Historical Construction,Social Maintenance,Individual Creation and Experience" mode of Timothy Rice,a famous Canadian ethnomusicologist.The different representations of social maintenance and its personalized characteristics are explored from three aspects.First,in the historical composition of Wangkui shadow play from the middle of the20 th century to before the cultural revolution,cultural insider took the connotation of shadow play ceremony as the foundation and the content of shadow play as the carrier to show and publicize their pursuit of their own life value through music,and expressed their optimistic attitude and identity towards life and destiny in the form of entertainment.The "ritual music attribute" of Wangkui shadow play is the foundation of their survival and survival,and also the strength of their life force inheritance.They realized their life value in the process of singing,playing and performing music by performing long-term movies with a large cost for several days,and showed themselves between heaven and earth.Second,from the 1970 s to the present,the Wangkui shadow play system has undergone a long history.After the process of cleaning up the historical dust and washing,the part of social maintenance that remains has changed completely due to the change of its cultural context.The performance behavior and significance of Wangkui shadow play have been divided.The music performance behavior has become "performance for performance",and the concept of entertainment is shrinking,Political ideas and cultural propaganda occupy the main part.However,we also found that the "ritual music attribute" of Wangkui shadow play has changed from explicit to implicit.Like digital bass,it is hidden at the bottom of shadow play,but it is the root and foundation of shadow play.Long paragraphs are replaced by short dramas.Third,the identity of shadow puppet artists has changed from folk artists to staff of cultural centers,and their social behavior,physical behavior,speech behavior and learning behavior have all produced new cultural acculturation and immersion,which has led to the development of music texts in order to adapt to the new context,which is completely different from the self-sufficiency period of artists in the past.Among them,the biggest impact is that music gradually moves from dynamic to static.This solidification leads to new students’ understanding of shadow music being more scripted than that of old artists,and the personalized creative activities and performance vitality of shadow puppet artists have been weakened.However,the "ritual music attribute" of the metaphor of Wangkui shadow play is still regarded as the cornerstone by insiders.To sum up,in the diachronic and synchronic development of Wangkui shadow play,although the performance content and concept have changed time and again,and the performance form and music singing have changed with the times,the "ritual music attribute" of Wangkui shadow play,as the foundation of folk music culture,has not changed.As a long line running through Wangkui shadow play,it not only carries the dust information of history,but also continues to promote the future development of Wangkui shadow play.The "ritual music attribute" of Wangkui shadow play is the original thing.It contains all the elements of the development of shadow play,including the yearning and pursuit for a better life expressed by people in the cultural insider through rituals.It is the root of the survival of people in the cultural insider.
