In recent years, with the development of multimedia technology and the enhancement of people’s cultural confidence, the forms of visualization have become increasingly diverse, and the number of related research on traditional music visualization has also significantly increased. However, there is still a problem of low recognition of traditional Chinese musical instruments. In this context, the purpose of this study is to explore the derivation and application of cognitive mapping elements from the perspective of embodiment and musical semiotics.Firstly, this article systematically reviews relevant research literature on music visualization, traditional music visualization, and instrumental cognition both domestically and internationally, forming a review to establish the research ideas and methods for this topic.Secondly,I studied and sorted out the relevant literature, research paradigm, and theoretical concepts of embodied theory and musical semiotics theory. And combine the two theories, explain the relationship between the two in detail, and build a cognitive model and its conceptual relationship model in the perspective of embodiment and musical semiotics. Then,in Chapter 3,comparative research and other methods were used to analyze the characteristics of traditional Chinese music system and Chinese national instrumental music. On the basis of this analysis, combined with the model constructed in the second chapter, the mapping elements that are conducive to the cognition of musical instruments are extracted from the perspective of embodiment and musical semiotics. This article explores the most important timbre element among the derived cognitive elements through color mapping experiments using the top ten ancient Chinese musical instruments as examples. After data analysis, the color space corresponding to each instrument is obtained, which is the visual variable corresponding to each instrument-"color".By relying on cognitive elements such as imagery to explore the visual variable "shape",we can obtain a set of visual variables corresponding to each musical instrument,"shape".Finally, this article takes the top ten ancient Chinese musical instruments as an example to construct a mapping relationship between "shape" and "color"based on cognitive elements, attempting to complete the visual transformation practice of cognitive elements. And based on the cognitive system model constructed in Chapter 2,validation experiments were conducted on the practical results of instrumental visualization of the top ten ancient musical instruments. This experiment proves that the visualization transformation application of the research path in this project is useful for assisting instrument cognition, and also provides some inspiration for visual design with instrumental cognition as the mapping motivation. On the one hand, this study can help people better learn ethnic instrumental music, deepen their understanding and understanding of instrumental music; On the other hand, the emphasis on the selection of cognitive mapping elements and visual exploration based on cognitive elements have enriched the design and creation methods of music visualization, providing new possibilities for music education and cultural inheritance. In addition, this study studies the integration of embodiment and musical semiotics, which has a certain role in promoting the application and development of the two theories.
