College student leadership is a combination of good self-management,looking to the future,facing up to challenges,and enhancing interpersonal relationships to foster collaborative processes.In many developed countries,College leadership is considered as one of the essential qualities for the lifelong development of individuals and the progress of society.In fact,the way to improve the leadership of university students is related to the clarification of the influencing factors,which are not only limited to the external environment,but should also take into account the internal factors of individuals and the interaction between them.Social practice is an important platform for students to enrich their professional theoretical knowledge and develop their comprehensive ability,and it is an important way to enhance and cultivate leadership.Self-efficacy and social value,as important expressions of intrinsic motivation,influence to a certain extent the motivation,attitude and behaviour in the process of practice,which in turn has a corresponding impact on leadership.However,the relationship between social practice and university students’ leadership has not yet been fully verified.Therefore,based on motivation theory and social information processing perspective,this study investigates the relationship between social practice participation and university students’ leadership and the mediating role of self-efficacy and social value in it,in order to provide a scientific basis and some theoretical guidance for promoting the cultivation of students’ leadership through social practice in universities.In this study,516 university students from universities within Guangxi were used as subjects to investigate the relationship between social practice participation,leadership,general self-efficacy and social value using an anonymous questionnaire.By distributing the questionnaires online and conducting descriptive statistics,ANOVA,correlation analysis and Bootstrap mediation effect test on the valid questionnaires using SPSS and AMOS programs,the results of the study showed that:(1)college students’ leadership was at an intermediate level;(2)there were no statistical differences in college students’ leadership on the dimensions of gender,place of origin and whether they were only children,and there were statistical differences on the dimensions of different political outlook,grade,and(2)There are no statistical differences in the dimensions of gender,place of origin and whether one is an only child,but there are statistical differences in the dimensions of political outlook,grade and whether one is a student leader.(3)Social practice,college student leadership,self-efficacy and social value were significantly and positively correlated.(4)Self-efficacy and social value play a fully mediating role in the influence of social practice on university students’ leadership.Conclusion:(1)The leadership of university students is at a medium level,and the leadership of students who are student cadres is higher than that of non-student cadres;the leadership of students who are party members(including reserve party members)and party activists is higher than that of other political groups,and the leadership of fourth-year students is higher than that of other grades.(2)Social practice positively predicts students’ leadership,and mainly influences students’ leadership through self-efficacy and perception of social value.
