| Cooperation is an important component of human civilization, and each of us is influencing or being influenced by others. In different contexts,we have developed vastly different cooperative relationships with others. With the expansion of cooperative relationships, the emergence of power structures has had a profound impact on the organizational form of cooperation. So in a collaborative relationship between two people, will the differences in difficulty of the situation and the differences in power roles also have an impact on the cooperative behavior? This article reveals the significant impact of collaborative scenarios and power roles on cooperative behavior through two experiments. The Experiment 1 is a single factor experimental design(scenario:hypothesis, low difficulty, high difficulty, none); The scenario is an intra subject variable; The dependent variables are the score of sense of power and the score of public goods game.Thirty participants performed cooperative tasks at different levels of context, then measured their sense of power and engaged in public goods games to measure individual cooperative behavior. The experiment showed that there was no significant difference in participants’sense of power between contexts[F(2,28)=0.58,p=0.56,η2=0..04];There is a significant difference in the scores of public goods game in the context[F(3,27)=3.43,p<0.05,η2=0.25],post hoc testing shows that the public goods game score in the low difficulty scenario is significantly higher than that in the hypothetical scenario[M hypothesis=80.07,M low difficulty=90.60,t(29)=-3.04,p<0.05].The Experiment 2 is a dual factor mixed experimental design of 2(situational difficulty:low,high)×2(power role:high and low),which situational difficulty is the intra subject variable, power role is the inter subject variable, and the dependent variable is the subject’s sense of power score and contribution in the public goods game task. Before conducting the same collaborative task as Experiment 1,40 participants were assigned two different power roles:"team leader"and"team member".The experiment result show that the Main effect of situational difficulty and the Main effect of power role are not significant[F(1,38)=0.75,p=0.40,η2=0.02],and the interaction between the two is not significant; The situation difficulty Main effect of public goods game score is significant[F(1,38)=4.08,p=0.05,η2=0.01],the public goods game score in the low difficulty situation is higher than that in the high difficulty situation[M low difficulty=81.50,M high difficulty=77.25,t(39)=2.05,p<0.05],the Main effect of power role is not significant, and the interaction between the two is not significant. The study indicates that(1)after experiencing a real cooperative situation, the individual’s cooperative behavior will be higher than expected before the experiment;(2)Individuals who experience low difficulty situations exhibit more cooperative behavior than those who experience high difficulty situations;(3)The power role does not significantly affect the participants’sense of power and cooperative behavior in a strong cooperative context. |
