Analysis And Application Of Composition Forms In Colville’s Paintings

Alex Colville was one of the most famous artists in the 20th century.He often depicted scenes from everyday life as subjects,and his works had a unique artistic style.After careful composition and thinking,he arranged the contents to be displayed in the picture.Sometimes,the composition of a work would go through repeated design and comparison,and even precise calculation,so that the picture is full of rational sense of order.In his works,the expression of daily life is not only a simple narrative expression,each image carefully arranged in the picture has its own meaning of existence,reflecting the pursuit of life,eternity and truth.By analyzing the composition form of Colville’s works,this paper probes into the profound connotation and thinking of life contained in Colville’s works.The article is divided into three parts.The first chapter briefly discusses Colville’s life and the formation of his painting style,and combines Colville’s life experience to understand the reasons for the formation of his unique art style.The second chapter focuses on the analysis of Colville’s works,through the analysis of the composition form in his works to deeply understand the artist’s artistic concept expression.The third chapter discusses the influence of in-depth study of Colville’s art works on his own personal creation,combined with personal creation practice to explore the thinking of learning Colville’s composition form,in practice to further deepen the understanding of Colville’s composition form.
