| This report is based on the English-Chinese translation task of the book—Russian Public Diplomacy from USSR to the Russian Federation.The book focuses on public diplomacy and the reasons for its development in the world in the 21 st century,formation and development of Russian public diplomacy,and Russian studies of public diplomacy in the 2000 s.The translator mainly uses computer-aided translation(CAT)tools SDL Trados 2019,Deep L,to complete the translation task.This report applies the methodology of qualitative analysis to provide case studies and summaries of the specifics of this translation task.The source material selected for this translation project are highly academic.There are many compound sentences in this text type,especially complex sentences.Based on the specific analysis of the translated materials,the translator has chosen noun clauses as the focus of the analysis and summary of this report.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation task,including its background,purpose and significance,as well as the analysis of the source text.The second chapter introduces the translation process,which involves pre-translation preparations,while-translation process and quality control.The third chapter is the focus of this Report.In this chapter,the translator has analyzed the translation of noun clauses with specific translation cases.The fourth deals with post-translation proofreading and reflection,and the final chapter provides an overall summary.It is envisaged that this report will provide some guidance and examples for translators of public diplomacy texts and may be useful for future translations of texts in this field.However,it should be noted that the conclusions drawn are limited because they are based only on the translation cases selected by the translator in this task. |
