As an important part of the national education system,secondary vocational education undertakes the task of training high-quality workers and skilled talents for the country’s economic and social development,and it plays an important and crucial role in China’s current vocational education system.In today’s globalized economy,as China enters a new stage of development,industrial modernization,industrial renewal and upgrading,and continuous optimization and adjustment of economic structure,the demand for high-quality workers and skilled personnel in various fields is becoming more and more urgent.For secondary business English majors,the requirements of today’s society for business English talents are also getting higher and higher.In order to cope with extensive international trade and cultural exchanges,simple listening,reading and writing can no longer meet their development needs,and secondary business English majors must also have corresponding cross-cultural communication skills.However,at present,most studies on business English majors’ intercultural communication skills in China are concentrated in colleges and universities,and less involved in the field of secondary education.In this study,in order to study the level of intercultural communication ability of secondary business English majors and what factors affect their intercultural communication ability,business English majors from a key secondary vocational school in a province were selected as the respondents,and the research method of questionnaire survey and teacher-student interview was used to investigate and study their intercultural communication ability,and at the same time,to propose the factors that promote their intercultural communication ability to improve The study also proposes suggestions to improve the students’ intercultural communication skills so as to better improve their intercultural communication skills.After data analysis,it was found that the intercultural communication ability of secondary business English majors was at an intermediate level,and in terms of the three dimensions that constitute intercultural communication ability,students were better in the attitude dimension and still needed further improvement in the knowledge and skill dimension levels.On the basis of understanding the level of intercultural communication ability of secondary business English majors,this study concludes with relevant suggestions from three aspects: society,schools and individual students.The social level mainly focuses on changing the mainstream social culture and breaking the prejudice of secondary education.At the school level,we mainly optimize the relevant curriculum,improve the assessment and evaluation system of business English majors,provide a cross-cultural communication environment,enrich students’ practice,improve teachers’ cross-cultural literacy,and guide teachers to pay attention to cultural teaching;at the student level,we mainly improve their own cross-cultural communication awareness,increase their cross-cultural knowledge reserves,improve their personal learning ability,and pay attention to the development of language skills.
