Collation And Study Of Uninterpreted Characters In Jinwen

Jinwen is an important material for the study of pre-Qin history and culture,and the study of Jinwen script in China has a long history.With the increase of new excavated materials,the number of newly seen Jinwen,Jinwen character exploration and interpretation of the article is also getting richer.In the many Jinwen materials,there is a large part of the Jinwen uninterpreted characters.The collation and study of Jinwen uninterpreted characters and the various theories is a stage summary of the results of Jinwen character exploration and interpretation.which can reflect the current status of academic research and has important material value.However,at present.the reference books and papers that include the uninterpreted characters are a collection of the interpreted and uninterpreted characters,and the collection of the uninterpreted characters alone has not yet appeared.Therefore,this paper will collect and organize the uninterpreted characters in all the bronze inscriptions that can be seen at present,bringing together the various theories,in order to provide scholars with a comprehensive collation of the uninterpreted characters in Jinwen.The uninterpreted characters in this paper mainly consist of two parts:one part is the characters that can Liding,and have been interpreted by scholars.but have not yet been generally accepted by the academic community;the other part is the characters whose composition is unknown,difficult to Liding,and yet to be specifically studied.The main content is presented in the form of a list of uninterpreted characters in Jinwen,divided into two parts:the list of characters that can be Liding which is classified according to the principle of "natural classification" and the list of characters that cannot be Liding.After a series of collation and analysis,this paper concludes that the existence of uninterpreted characters in Jinwen is mainly due to the lack of linguistic environment,the complicated and variable characters,the unsystematic and fragmentary Jinwen data,and the unclear copying of inscription.At the same time,we analyzed the construction of uninterpreted characters from two perspectives,namely,single characters and combined characters,and compiled some special types of uninterpreted characters in Jinwen:from the viewpoint of character form,there are several special types such as too simple,too complex,and similar to the interpreted character form but inconclusive;from the viewpoint of inscription content,there are several special types such as human name,place name,single character inscriptions,and ethnic emblem characters that exist in non-ethnic emblem inscriptions.
