| The gaming industry has been thriving constantly.Through research,factors that contribute to successful overseas expansion can be summarized,thus making games more easily accepted by target players.It also responds to the call of the government to export Chinese culture.This essay takes the game Genshin Impact as an example.It is also currently the most successful Chinese game overseas.It is available in 175 countries and regions and it is released in 13 languages.This essay systematically analyzes the linguistic materials of Genshin Impact in both English and Chinese versions in three dimensions(linguistic,cultural and communicative dimension)and summarizes the proper translation strategies in game localization and puts forward suggestions.Quantitative and qualitative research methods are both used.The essay analyzes the material in three dimensions and explores the highlights and shortcomings of the translated text and summarizes the strategies.A survey is adopted which collects the feedback of players.Research on translation strategies is conducted through text analysis and players’ feedback.The essay concludes that the game can convey information properly through translation techniques and therefore can basically complete the conversion of the language dimension.When facing text rich in Chinese traditional cultural elements,the translation team completes the conversion of the cultural dimension through cultural borrowing.In terms of communicative dimension,the team matches the source text in elements such as text form,denotation and connotation to achieve the transformation of the communicative dimension. |
