Abstract/Summary:
Maurice Ravel(March 7,1875-December 28,1937)is one of the most important French composers in the first half of the 20 th century, and also a great orchestrator in the history of music. The orchestration techniques of his band’s works are usually delicate, elegant and exquisite.Stravinsky once described Ravel as "an exquisite Swiss watchmaker",and Ravel has created countless classical orchestral works with his exquisite orchestration techniques and unique composition concept, which has also been praised by the world. This paper takes Ravel’s orchestral work LA VALSE as the research object, focuses on the orchestration technology of this work, mainly from the aspects of the presentation of line color, the distribution of harmonic parts, the writing method of timbering texture and the layout of orchestration,so as to elaborate and analyze Ravel’s unique orchestration technology and the style characteristics of his works. The text of this paper is mainly divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the composer’s life and creation background, and also briefly analyzes the structure, music materials and band composition of the music, while the other four chapters are related to orchestration technology.Among them, the second chapter mainly expounds the related problems of linear factors, such as the timbre of theme melody lines, the sound configuration and the horizontal color transition of lines. At the same time,it also discusses the structure of melody forms; The third chapter mainly expounds the problems related to the harmony factor, trying to find Ravel’s preference for the use of the harmony factor, which includes the harmony part matching problem within each instrument group and the harmony part combination problem between each instrument group; The fourth chapter mainly expounds the problems of the orchestral texture type used and the composition methods of various types of sound patterns in LA VALSE;The fifth chapter is the last chapter of the article, which mainly expounds the orchestration layout of the music, which reflects the composer’s rational thinking on the work, mainly including the orchestration layout of the local structure and the orchestration layout of the overall structure.
