Exploring The Piano Accompaniment Of Shang Deyi’s Art Songs

Shang Deyi is a renowned contemporary Chinese music educator and composer who has devoted his life to the development of Chinese folk music and has made outstanding contributions to China’s music career in terms of composition and education.His art songs have had a profound impact with their unique ethnic elements and novel melodies.This paper explores the beauty of Shang Deyi’s art songs from his practice of piano accompaniment of three art songs,explaining and grasping the performance techniques as well as understanding the works themselves,and then further analyzing Shang Deyi’s art song compositions in order to better explore the value of the works in terms of East-West musical fusion and contemporary music culture.This paper consists of three chapters,the first of which focuses on Shang Deyi’s art songs and musical works from a macro perspective.The second chapter analyzes the compositional characteristics of three art songs,"Grassland in July","Birds Fly" and "Pastoral Flute",in terms of melodic structure,melody and harmony,tonality and weaving,and the application of folk music elements.The third chapter discusses the performance techniques of piano accompaniment and the practical cooperation of vocal singers for the three art songs,taking the author’s own practical experience as the main starting point.
