A Study Of Ritual Music In Han Bangqi’s Yuan Luo Zhi Yue

The political turmoil and social and ideological transformation of the mid-Ming dynasty shook the absolute status of Cheng and Zhu,and emerged a new ideology of science,while the wave of ritual and music making and revival also pushed the development of music rhythmology and music and dance theory.Against this backdrop,Han Bangqi produced a series of important academic works and is regarded as an outstanding thinker,literary scholar and music theorist of the mid-Ming Dynasty.The "Yuanluo Zhi Yue" is a collection of Han Bangqi’s theoretical research on music,and consists of twenty volumes.The two opening volumes of Lv Lv Xin Shu Zhi Jie are devoted to Han Bangqi’s theories of rhythm,while the subsequent chapters cover music instrumentation,musical instruments,music and dance,ancient music-making,and music theory,covering Han Bangqi’s musical composition,musical aesthetics,and music and dance thought.In the process of writing,the author took Han Zhi as a guide,and quoted the contents and writing style of Chen Yang’s Book of Music and Cai Yuan Ding’s New Book of Ruling,collected a large number of original documents,organized and collected the writings of the previous people,and added his own understanding.The "Yuanluo Zhi Yue" was printed several times during the Ming and Qing dynasties and was included in the " The Four Categories ".Many volumes of "Yuanluo Zhi Yue" are concerned with the content of ritual and music,and the volume is huge.The article classifies the contents of the volumes of Yuan Luo Zhi Le into ritual music rituals,rhythms,music programs,and dances,and analyzes and discusses them to explore Han Bangqi’s ideas and values of ritual music use.The article consists of an introduction and five chapters,with the introductory part mainly laying the foundation and direction for the exposition of the article.The first chapter compares Han Bangqi’s family life and academic achievements,as well as outlines the content,genesis,and edition analysis of the Yuan Luo Zhi Le.The second chapter discusses the rituals and rhythms of Huanqiu,Fangze,and temple enjoyment in the Yuan Luo Zhi Le,and explores Han Bangqi’s theoretical ideas of music rhythm and their application in the rhythms.The third chapter is on the ritual musical instruments in "Yuanluo Zhi Yue",which discusses the use of the orchestra and the specific "eight-tone" instruments in the ritual music,and explores the use of different instruments in the ritual music.Chapter four is devoted to the ritual dances in "Yuanluo Zhi Yue",exploring Han Bang Qi’s discussion of dance and its use in ritual music from the perspective of dance images,dance costumes and dance instruments.Chapter five discusses Han Bangqi’s ideas on ritual and music and the value and limitations of the study of ritual music in "Yuanluo Zhi Yue".
