A Study On The Construction "you Bei X Dao(有被X到)",an Internet Buzzword

Abstract:This study discusses the passive construction“you bei X dao（有被X到）”,which appears as new internet buzzwords such as“you bei maofan dao（有被冒犯到）,”“you bei xiao dao（有被笑到）,”and“you bei shuai dao（有被帅到）”.Firstly,this study makes a comprehensive description and analysis of the syntactic form and the semantic meaning of the construction.Secondly,this study analyzes the mechanisms of formation of the construction.And finally,this study compares the construction with the traditional bei（被）-sentences and the construction“bei X（被X）”,analyzes their similarities and differences,and introduces the development of passive sentences over the past 20 years from a chronological perspective.This paper is divided into six chapters.Chapter One is an introduction,which begins with a brief description of the reasons and significance of the research topic,secondly combs through previous studies on the grammatical theories of you（有）-sentences,passive sentences,and the construction grammar,and finally introduces the research method and the sources of the data.Chapter Two is a syntactic analysis.In this chapter,firstly a quantitative statistical analysis of the distribution of“X”in the construction“you bei X dao（有被X到）”is presented in terms of the word class,the syllable,and the semantic color.Secondly,the syntactic functions and features of the construction are described.Chapter Three is a semantic analysis,which firstly expounds the semantic meanings and functions of the invariant terms“you（有）”,“bei（被）”and“dao（到）”,and secondly discusses the semantic meanings of the construction as a whole,and the mechanisms of formation of the construction.Among them,the meaning of the construction is that the speaker has some evaluative psychological feelings due to the stimulation of someone,something,or event.This feeling is the result of stimulation,the speaker expressed most want to highlight it,rather than emphasize the results of the process,the reasons.Chapter Four is a pragmatic analysis,in which the pragmatic features of the construction“you bei X dao（有被X到）”is analyzed from the perspectives of concordance,evaluation and the focus.Chapter Five is a horizontal comparison.It first of all compares the similarities and differences between the construction“you bei X dao（有被X到）”and traditional bei（被）-sentences,and between the construction“you bei X dao（有被X到）”and the“bei X（被X）”,in terms of the syntactic structure,the syntactic function and the pragmatic function.Secondly,it tracks the development of bei（被）-sentences since the beginning of the 21^st century.Chapter Six is the summarizes this study,and presents the limitations of the present study and prospects for future research.
