Nowadays,with the rapid development of science and technology,society needs more innovative talents.Many countries attach great importance to the cultivation of innovative talents.In 2018,General Senior High School Curriculum Standards(2017)was officially promulgated,which clearly put forward that the concept of the Activity-Based Learning Approach(ABLA)is a way to improve thinking capacity.However,whether English teachers’ identification of ABLA will have an impact on the improvement of students’ thinking capacity is worthy of further research.This thesis makes a survey and classroom observation on students’ thinking capacity.Besides,it conducts a questionnaire survey,interview,and classroom observation on senior high school English teachers’ identification of ABLA.Finally,this dissertation analyzes the correlation between teachers’ identification of ABLA and students’ thinking capacity to understand the influence of teachers’ identification of ABLA on students’ thinking capacity and provides suggestions for front-line teachers to cultivate students thinking capacity.The thesis mainly solves the following three problems:(1)What is the developmental level of students’ thinking capacity?(2)How do senior high school English teachers understand ABLA?(3)What is the correlation between senior high school English teachers’ identification of ABLA and students’ thinking capacity?The dissertation shows that teachers do not have a clear identification of ABLA.Students’ generalization and construction thinking,critical and creative thinking still need to be promoted.According to the correlation analysis,it is found that teachers’ identification of ABLA and students’ thinking capacity are positively correlated.The higher the teachers’ identification of ABLA is,the better the students’ thinking capacity will develop.Finally,according to the research results,this dissertation puts forward pertinent suggestions and points out the inadequacies of the research.
