| This translation practice report takes the study of the way how to examine the appropriateness and acceptance of works created by non-native authors from the perspective of theory of Textless Back Translation.The research takes the selected chapter of E.T.C.Werner’s Myths and Legends of China as the research corpus.By employing research methods of exemplification and comparison,the study examined corpus out of Myths and Legends of China and revealed that,under the guidance of the theory of Textless Back Translation,in terms of examining some exclusive Chinese mythology culture and certain folk cultural items,five different translation methods can offer workable references: substitution,omission,amplification,free translation and narrated translation.Substitution can be applied to examine the widely accepted and existed Chinese culture items.Omission can be applied to examine the correctness and appropriateness of some cultural expressions created by the writer.Amplification can be employed to justify some fuzziness and ambiguity cultural expressions in the original work.Free translation and Narrated translation methods can be served as to clear some uncertain contents in the source text which were lack of corresponding historical facts.The research has concluded that back translation method can offer workable references to guide the creation of relevant Chinese Myths as well as examine the appropriateness and expressiveness to the creation of alien culture. |
