Study On The Change Of Embroidery Of The Miao People In Xijiang Under The Tourism Field

As a unique skill culture,Miao Embroidery carries the Miao’s profound historical memory,which is reflected difference in different historical periods.This thesis takes the tourism development of Xijiang Miao Village and the commercialization of Miao embroidery as the time node.From the perspective of cultural change theory,this paper studies the changes of Xijiang Miao embroidery from traditional farming society to tourism development in terms of materials,patterns,functions and inheritance methods and the real reasons behind them.This thesis closely focuses on the changes of Xijiang Miao embroidery.Through the collection and analysis of documents,conducts in-depth participant observation in Miao village,interviews with local embroidery women,etc.It is found that the following changes have taken place about Xijiang Miao embroidery during the tourism development:With the development of tourism in Xijiang Miao Village,the acquisition of materials for Miao embroidery has changed from self-woven to purchase.The promotion and use of modern tools have made the materials and tools of Miao embroidery constantly updated and iterated.The patterns of Miao embroidery not only reflect the living environment and historical memory of the Miao people,but also reflect the Miao’s reverence for all beings and their yearning for a better life.Today,the patterns of Xijiang Miao embroidery are based on the original patterns,which have been absorbed and integrated with modern elements.The shape of patterns is developing towards figuration,and the composition of patterns also tends to be concise and fashionable.The patterns of Miao embroidery are characterized by modern themes,diversified contents and wide application of patterns.In the traditional farming life,Miao embroidery is passed down from generation to generation among Miao women through inter-ethnic,from mother to daughter and from sister to sister.With the promotion of tourism and commodity production,the inheritance of Miao embroidery has been passed down from generation to generation.Changes from master to guest and teacher to student.At the same time,Miao embroidery,which has the main functions of meeting the needs of life,carrying historical culture,identifying branch culture and expressing spiritual beauty,is also an important condition for measuring the diligence of Miao women.But in the process of tourism development,the aesthetic and practical functions of Miao embroidery are becoming more and more important.With the gradual transformation,the style of Miao embroidery has become more exquisite and refined,and its aesthetic function has been continued and highlighted.In the process of Miao embroidery as a necessities of life gradually becoming a commodity,its function as a measure of women’s hard work is weakening.Through the analysis and research from the theoretical perspective of cultural change,this thesis deem that the driving force for the change of Miao embroidery in Xijiang comes from the consumer demand orientation of the tourism market,the improvement of modern machine technology,the interest drive of the economic value of Miao embroidery,the changes in the aesthetic thoughts of cultural holders and the development of cultural subject initiative.Through the research,it is also found that the embroidery method of Xijiang Miao embroidery has not changed in the development of tourism.This thsis believes that the unchanged content may be the core part of the Miao culture and an important matrix that can show the uniqueness of the Miao ethnic group.The changes of Xijiang Miao embroidery show the dynamism of the main body of the culture,and also reflect the gradual self-adjustment of culture in a constantly developing and changing society,which is a manifestation of cultural adaptability.With the continuous development of society and the mutual exchange and integration of cultures,Miao embroidery may continue to be enriched and developed.
