| Social Anxiety refers to the significant and persistent fear that individuals experience in some Social situations.In addition to the psychological tension,fear,worry and associated negative emotions,it will also be accompanied by a series of physiological reactions such as cheek redness,trembling,sweating,and avoidance behavior.In previous studies,more than 90% of college students reported varying degrees of social anxiety.As a new intervention method,mindfulness training,which originated from the eastern traditional culture and has been combined with psychology and developed scientifically in the west,has been widely applied to the improvement of various psychological problems.Objective: There are two studies in this study.Study 1 is to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and social anxiety,and to explore the mediating role of self-acceptance between them.Study 2 aims to verify the intervention effect of mindfulness training on social anxiety of college students.Methods: To investigate the relationship between mindfulness and social anxiety,and explore the mediating role of self-acceptance between them.To test the effect of mindfulness training on social anxiety of college students.The results of study 1 showed that: There was a significant negative correlation between mindfulness and social anxiety(r =-0.288,p < 0.01),and self-acceptance played a mediating role in the relationship between mindfulness and social anxiety.The results of study 2 showed that: After eight weeks of mindfulness intervention,social anxiety of the mindfulness training group had significantly decreased(t(15)=5.27,p < 0.001),mindfulness significantly increased(t(15)=-2.72,p < 0.05),and self-acceptance significantly increased(t(15)=-2.58,p < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the waiting control group.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)There is a significant negative correlation between mindfulness and social anxiety in college students.(2)The self-acceptance of college students played a mediating role in the relationship between the mindfulness and social anxiety.(3)Mindfulness training can effectively reduce college students’ social anxiety,and mindfulness and self-acceptance may be the mechanism. |
